Area 3 · 1933 — 1945

Third Reich.

The most difficult section of our museum — and the most important. We show objects from twelve years of dictatorship, war, and persecution. Without embellishment. Without heroization. Without symbolic politics.

Historical context is paramount: How did the regime operate in the daily life of the region? What did the war mean for Mannheim? What traces did the air raids leave behind — including in the very bunker where we now exhibit?

On display

  • Wehrmacht uniforms, equipment and instruments
  • Documents from regional administrative and military archives
  • Everyday objects of the civilian population 1933–1945
  • Photographs of destroyed Mannheim
  • Original bunker fittings and inscriptions
What we show is meant to explain — not to impress.

Symbols prohibited under § 86a of the German Criminal Code are displayed exclusively within a documentary and educational framework.
